Join the Local Government Environmental Assistance Network (LGEAN) for a webinar on best practices in anaerobic digestion initiatives in South Chicago. In particular, the webinar will highlight the past successes and future initiatives of Green Era Educational NFP, an educational organization that connects organic waste, renewable energy and local food production. Using anaerobic digestion (AD), the project diverts organic waste from landfills to produce renewable energy and nutrient-rich soil. This will empower communities in South Chicago to increase organic waste recycling, create renewable energy and expand healthy food production. Green Era will acquire a brownfields property in South Chicago to build an AD facility. Green Era will also works with Growing Power, a nonprofit focused on community grown food, education, and green community development, to focus on AD-derived nutrient-rich materials.
