New pension reporting standards from the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) are creating confusion. As local governments struggle to understand and implement changes, some credit reporting agencies have announced that they have yet another way to calculate pension obligations to determine a government’s credit worthiness.

What do you need to know?  To guide local and state leaders, ICMA and ten other national organizations representing the nation’s governors, state legislatures, state and local officials, and public finance professionals, created the Pension Funding Task Force. The task force’s findings are in, and ICMA is conducting a webinar to explain their recommendations.  Specific tips about maintaining a well-funded plan will be shared from the Denver Employees Retirement Plan experience.

The audience: State and local government managers, elected officials, and finance directors.
